While the Shearwater Desktop app version 3.1.5 might still work for you, this version is not supported anymore as we have migrated to our new Shearwater Cloud app.

You need to switch to cloud app 2.10.2 for Mac/Windows and mobile.

Unfortunately, as of right now the process for changing your email is a bit cumbersome and you will have to create a new account. Here is a little guide how to do so.

Backup your dives:

1) Sign in to Shearwater Cloud on desktop and sync.

2) Verify that all your dives are present.

3) Go to File-> Export Whole Database. Save this file somewhere easy to find.

Create a new account:

4) Sign up for a new account using the new email address.

5) Verify your email when the verification email comes.

6) Sign in to the new account

Import your backup:

7) Go to File -> Import Shearwater Database

8) Select your backup that you made in step 4.

9) After your dives are imported, sync.

You can definitely connect more than one computer to the same Cloud account. They will show up as two different serial numbers to differentiate between the dives. 

However, unless you edit the dive numbers it will store each as an individual dive so you may end up with twice the number of dives actually done.

1. In the Shearwater app click on profile.
2.Click on Options.
3.Click on the Hamburger menu in the top right.
4.You will see Export account, which will download a ZIP file to your desktop.

Exporting your account exports a ZIP file with a sync report and your Shearwater database which may help Shearwater Customer Support diagnose issues.

Bluetooth only classic chips will not work on iOS as there is no code for it due to chip license and costs. Basically, Petrel 1 will not work with iPhone or Monterey OS and up. Unfortunately, Petrel 1 will not connect with Apple devices.

The only option for you is just to invest in second hand or non expensive Tablet, or android phone or simply use your friends or family member Android to transfer dives and then go to your Mac or iPhone app to view/modify your dives.

Petrel1 will work on Android, Windows and Tablet only.

Bluetooth pairings can get mixed up on Macs. The PRAM reset is a common tool used by Mac to help sort out any hardware issues.

(You may want to print these instructions or open them on your phone, as you will be doing this with your Mac shut off).

1. Save your work and shut down your Mac.
2. Locate the following four keys: option, command, P and R. You will need to hold them down in step 4.
3. Press the power button to start your Mac.
4. Before the grey screen appears, hold down option, command, P and R. Hold them down until your Mac makes the startup sound twice.
5. Release the keys and your Mac will startup. You may hear the startup sound again. That's ok.

If for some reason you need to remove a dive computer from the Shearwater Cloud App, here are instructions on how to do so.

Shearwater Cloud Desktop App:

1. Select 'Connect' in the top left corner.
2. Click on the Shearwater dive computer you wish to remove.
3. At the bottom of that tab, under the connect button, you should see 'Forget Computer'.
4. Click this, and then click confirm.

Shearwater Cloud Mobile App:

1. Select 'Connect' on the bottom tabs.
2. Click on the Shearwater dive computer you wish to remove.
3. In the top right corner, click on the hamburger menu.
4. Select 'Forget Computer'.

1. In the Shearwater app, click on profile.

2. Click on Options.

3. Click on the Hamburger menu in the top right.

4. You will see Export account, which will download a ZIP file to your mobile, and you will be prompted to email the folder, you can send it to us info@shearwater.com

IMPORT Database FROM OLD SHEARWATER APP to Cloud App:

You can import the old dives from Shearwater 3.1.5.

1. Open Shearwater Desktop 3.x
2. Press File > Export Database (choose somewhere easy to find)
3. Open Shearwater Cloud
4. Ensure you are signed into the account you want to import to
5. Press File > Import Database
6. Choose database exported from 3.x and wait until complete

When having an online Shearwater account, your data will be saved to the cloud automatically. It will sync your dives and information to the cloud and other devices you are logged into on that account.

When having an offline Shearwater account, none if your information will be saved to the cloud

Another option is to have an Online, no Auto sync account. Auto sync is disabled.  To synchronize, manually click 'Sync' or switch to online mode to enable automatic syncing.

If you open the Shearwater app, go to Sign in > you may see an option for 'Known Accounts'.

This allows customers to access their accounts that they have once already logged into, so you do not have to enter your email and password each time.

This will also benefit customers who have more than one account, it's an easy way to keep certain dives organized and to be able to switch from one account to the other without having to enter account credentials. You can also see details from this section like Total Dives, Cloud Dive Logs, and whether your account is a cloud account or local account.

If this option does not appear for you yet, make sure you have signed in once already, then this section should become an option.

As of now, you can only add dives to the Shearwater Cloud app from our Shearwater dive computers. We will be looking into the feature in future of adding dives manually, but unfortunately as of now, this will not be the case. You can export Shearwater dives as XML files or UDDF files if this would be a workaround for you.

Please use the old Bluetooth feature. It should work there.

Go to Settings, Bluetooth Options, then you can choose between 'Legacy Ui' (Old Bluetooth feature) and Dive Computer (recommended) which is New Bluetooth feature.
